Acrylic Deck Installation Guide for Scooters
Installing an acrylic deck on your scooter can enhance its aesthetics and provide a custom look. Below is a step-by-step guide to properly installing an acrylic deck while maintaining stability and safety.
Standard Installation (Recommended)
-
Remove the Existing Deck Cover
-
Unscrew all screws holding the current deck cover in place.
-
If a silicone mat covers the screws, peel it back to reveal and remove the screws.
-
-
Place the Acrylic Deck
-
Position the acrylic deck where the original deck cover was.
-
You may need to drill new holes in the acrylic deck if the default holes do not line up.
-
Recommended hole size: 6mm.
-
Since the acrylic deck is placed between the frame and the original deck cover, holes do not need threading or countersinking.
-
To be precise, measure the diameter of the screws that will pass through the holes.
-
-
-
Reinstall the Original Deck Cover
-
Place the original deck cover over the acrylic deck.
-
Screw everything back in place.
-
For extra stability, consider using slightly longer screws to account for the added height of the acrylic deck.
-
-
Completion
-
Once all screws are secure, the installation is complete.
-
Alternative Installation (Acrylic Deck on Top – Not Recommended)
-
Repeat Steps 1 and 2 from the standard installation.
-
Do Not Reinstall the Original Deck Cover.
-
Ensure screws can securely hold the acrylic deck in place.
-
May need longer or different screws.
-
Avoid flathead screws, as they may stick out.
-
Countersinking or threading holes is an option, but requires specialized tools.
-
Prefer screws with large socket heads to keep both the deck and rider’s feet stable.
-
-
Optional: Add grip tape or a silicone mat for traction, though this is not officially recommended due to reduced grip of acrylic compared to the original deck cover.
