Air Valve Sizing Guide | Understanding Schrader Valve Dimensions
Proper knowledge of air valve sizing is essential for maintaining and servicing your scooter tires. Most electric scooters use the same type of valve, typically a Schrader valve, but understanding its dimensions can help with selecting the right pumps, adapters, or replacement valves.
Key Valve Dimensions
-
All our scooters have the same valve type
| Column 1 | Column 2 |
| External Thread | Internal Thread |
| 7.7 mm OD, thread root diameter is 6.9 mm x 0.794 mm pitch. | 5.30 mm OD x 0.706 mm pitch |
-
Root
-
The root is the innermost part of the thread. It represents the base diameter if the threading were removed.
-
For more technical details on thread terminology, see Bolt Science - Thread Basics.
-
-
Root Diameter
-
While most screw and valve diameters are measured by the outside diameter (major nominal diameter), the root diameter is the smallest diameter of the thread.
-
It is effectively the diameter if the thread peaks were filed off.
-
-
Pitch
-
Thread pitch is the distance between consecutive peaks of the threads.
-
Knowing the pitch ensures that replacement valves or adapters properly fit the threading without cross-threading.
-
-
Outer Diameter (OD)
-
The OD, or major nominal diameter, is the largest diameter of the threaded section.
-
This is the measurement typically used to match valves with pumps or accessories.
-
Notes
-
All our scooters use the same Schrader-type valve, so measurements are consistent across models.
-
Understanding root, pitch, and OD can help when ordering replacements or using specialized tire accessories.
