Electric & Regenerative Braking Explained
Q: What is regenerative braking?
A: Regenerative braking slows down the scooter by converting some of the energy back into the battery. This is sometimes advertised as “charging your scooter while braking,” but in reality, the amount of energy returned is very minimal—you likely won’t notice an increase in range. When regen braking is activated, the scooter also cuts power to the throttle, so even if you’re pressing it, the motor won’t engage until braking stops.
Q: What is electronic braking?
A: Electronic braking is simply another term for regenerative braking. Riders often use them interchangeably, and they both refer to the same function described above.
Q: What is ABS braking?
A: ABS stands for Anti-Lock Braking System. It’s designed to prevent the wheels from locking during sudden or hard braking, which helps maintain traction and control at higher speeds. Please note that the Cruiser, Roadrunner V2, Roadrunner V3, and Roadrunner SE do not come with ABS.
