How to Fix Brake Rubbing or Rotor Noise on Your E-Bike

Brake rubbing or noisy rotors can affect performance and ride quality. Here’s how to troubleshoot and resolve these common issues:

Solution A: Adjust Calipers and Rotors

  1. Check Rotor Alignment: Ensure the brake rotor is properly centered between the caliper pads.

  2. Adjust Brake Calipers: Loosen the caliper bolts, squeeze the brake lever, and retighten bolts to center the caliper.

  3. Bleed Brake Lines (if needed): Firm up lever feel and remove air from hydraulic brakes.

  4. Use Loctite: Apply Loctite to brake mount bolts to prevent them from loosening over time.

Solution B: Apply 3M Silicone Paste

  • Applying a thin layer of 3M silicone paste between the brake pads and caliper can help reduce squeaking and noise caused by vibrations.

These steps help ensure your brakes operate smoothly, quietly, and safely, improving both performance and riding confidence.
