How to Use a Multimeter to Check Your Battery

A Simple Guide for Scooter Owners

A multimeter is a handy tool for checking your scooter’s battery health. Don’t worry if you’ve never used one before—this guide will walk you through the basics.

👉 Video Tutorial: Watch here

Step 1: Set Your Multimeter

  • Turn the dial on your multimeter to the voltmeter (V) setting.

  • Make sure it’s set to measure DC voltage (often marked as “V⎓” instead of “V~” which is AC).

Step 2: Connect the Probes

  • Touch the red probe to the positive (+) terminal of the battery.

  • Touch the black probe to the negative (–) terminal of the battery.

Step 3: Read the Voltage

  • The screen should now display your battery’s voltage.

  • If the number shows as negative, don’t worry—it just means the probes were reversed. Either swap them or ignore the minus sign.

✅ That’s it! You’ve successfully measured your battery’s voltage.
